Fire Destroys Two Ohio Homes

June 12, 2006
Fire trucks could not get down Covington's narrow alleys near the homes.

An early-morning fire destroyed two homes in Covington on Monday.

Firefighters were called to the 500 block of Center Court near Philadelphia Street just before 1 a.m. When they arrived, fire crews found that fire had spread to a second home.

A fire official said the homes' location made fighting the fire difficult.

"It's a very difficult place to get into. The only access to this particular street is down alleys, and we could not get our apparatus down, so we had to get all the hoses and lines and drag them in," Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Norris said.

No one was in either home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
