Former FEMA, USFA Official, Burris Now With Stratix

ATLANTA , May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratix Corporation, a leading mobileenterprise systems integrator, today announced the appointment of Ken Burris as the Vice President of Government Services. "This new position was createddue to the tremendous success we have had in the last year supporting oursales into the government for emergency disaster relief through our TAV'ssolution," said Bonney Shuman Chief Executive Officer of Stratix. "Ken bringsto Stratix a keen understanding of the government sector acquired during morethan thirty years of government service. Prior to Stratix, Mr. Burris served as the Director of Operations for theFederal Emergency Management Agency and was responsible for the day-to-dayoperations and management of the department and served as senior advisor tothe Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.During his tenure, Mr. Burris provided leadership and direction for the 2004hurricane season and the record setting 2005 hurricane season. Recognized forhis leadership and management skills, Mr. Burris was awarded the Department ofHomeland Security's Silver Medal by Secretary, Michael Chertoff on May 10,2006 .

Previous to this position, Mr. Burris served as the first Chief OperatingOfficer of the U.S. Fire Administration and is credited with theimplementation and deployment of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program,which has awarded over $3 billion in grants to the nation's fire service since2001. While the COO of the Fire Administration, he was deployed to the WorldTrade Center Towers during 911 where he was responsible for establishing thecommand and control structure for the federal response at ground zero. Forthis effort, Mr. Burris was awarded the Director's Award by then FEMA DirectorJoe Allbaugh. Mr. Burris also served as the Fire Chief of the City ofMarietta, Georgia and as the Director of Operations for the Georgia Mutual AidGroup for the 1996 Olympic Games. While the fire chief, he held the positionsof President of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs and Treasurer ofthe International Association of Fire Chiefs.

Mr. Burris holds a Masters of Public Administration Degree from KennesawState University and has received the Distinguished Alumni Award.
