Eric C. Larsen, 18, of West Chester, a volunteer firefighter who had a talent for landscape design, died Thursday at Chester County Hospital in West Chester of injuries suffered in a car accident.
He was driving south on High Street near Goshen Road in West Chester when his car crossed the roadway and struck a tree just before 4 a.m., said West Chester Police Sgt. Thomas Yarnall.
Mr. Larsen was born in Chicago and moved to the area with his family when he was 11. He attended Stetson Middle School and West Chester East High School, both in West Chester.
At East, Mr. Larsen was cocaptain of the soccer team. The Vikings won second place in the Class AAA state championships during his junior year.
He graduated from high school in June and was working at Waterloo Gardens in Exton, where he was developing a talent for landscape design.
Mr. Larsen was a volunteer firefighter with the Concordville Fire Company, Station 59, and was to have started school at Delaware County Community College on Monday. He planned to study business.
Surviving are parents Ken and Candy Larsen; grandparents Frank and Jean Larsen; and his brother Jason.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. tomorrow at DellaVecchia, Reilly & Smith Funeral Home, 410 N. Church St., West Chester. A memorial service begins at 7 p.m. Burial is private.
