The Omaha firefighter who helped rescue a Burke High School student from a crash in his front yard on Tuesday has erected a sign asking people to slow down.

Police said Joshua Leahy, 17, was driving near 138th and Larimore streets after 7 a.m. when something distracted him and he lost control and hit a mailbox.

Leahy was treated and released.

Back seat passenger Page Crosby, 16, and front seat passenger Natalie Leahy, 15, were taken in critical condition to the Nebraska Medical Center. On Tuesday night, Crosby had been upgraded to serious condition.

Russell Albin and some of his neighbors believe the teens were speeding, though police have not confirmed that.

Albin put a sign in his yard to warn people to slow down.

"I just wanted to remind them, you know, to take it easy. This is residential, so slow down," Albin said.
