An errant shelf on an apparatus popped out and caused damage to the Rock Hill, NY, fire station.

An errant slide out tray on a fire apparatus popped out, hit a support beam at the Rock Hill, NY. Fire Co., station Tuesday afternoon, causing significant damage to the building.

According to a report published by the Times Herald-Record, a department member was pulling the apparatus out of the station to prepare it for a parade when the extended shelf hit the support beam causing damage to the roof and bay doors.

The impact put two bays out of service, the newspaper reported, but no injuries were reported during the incident.

A fire police vehicle in the adjacent bay was removed from the affected area and was not damaged. Rock Hill Fire Chief Kris Gwiozdowski told the newspaper the apparatus that caused the damage was not damaged itself. He would not put a monetary estimate on the damage, but said a contractor was immediately called to get the station back together.

“We’re 100 percent in service,” the chief told the newspaper.
