Toledo, OH, Firefighter Suspended for Arguing About Responding to EMS Call
A Toledo firefighter has received a three-day suspension after arguing that another crew was closer after being dispatched to a call about an infant with trouble breating.
Instead of responding immediately, the firefighters aboard Engine 25 called dispatchers saying another crew was closer, 13 abc reported.
They ended up taking the call after learning that the other crew was getting fuel.
By the time they arrived 11 minutes later, the baby had started to breathe better. She was not transported to the hospital.
An investigation was initiated after the November incident. An administrative panel recommended a three-day suspension after its hearing in February.
The city's safety director had to sign off on the discipline. The name of the firefighter has not been released.
