NORWALK, OH—Ronald N. Luttrell II is Norwalk's new fire chief.
Luttrell has more than 36 years of experience in the firefighting service in various capacities from fire cadet to captain and has served the last three years as chief of the Madison Township Fire Department. Chief Luttrell is a fully experienced firefighter and EMT. His educational background includes an associate's degree in applied science in Emergency Medical Services, a bachelor's of science degree in public safety management and a master's of business administration degree in public administration.
“The position of fire chief for the city of Norwalk is exactly what I have prepared for during my entire fire service career," Luttrell said. "I feel confident that I can make a significant contribution to the fire department and to the city of Norwalk as leader, and I am grateful for this opportunity.”
The fire chief selection board, appointed pursuant to city ordinance, conducts the testing process when vacancies exist in the positions of police or fire chief, and ultimately selects the successful candidate. Pursuant to the Codified Ordinances, Mayor Dave Light shall appoint the candidate so selected by the board.
Luttrell will take his oath of office on Sept. 8 and will begin work immediately.
“I am truly grateful for the hard work that the selection committee put into this endeavor," Light said. "It was a long process and it is apparent that their hard work paid off. I had the pleasure of meeting Chief Luttrell last week. He is a highly qualified individual with a great personality who will serve our city well. I am eager to begin working with him and have confidence that he will provide the leadership necessary to move the fire department forward.”
