Everman, TX, Deputy Chief Jailed for Arranging Woman's Assault

The deputy chief, charged with aggravated sexual assault, was placed on leave, the Everman fire chief said.

The Everman deputy fire chief is behind bars accused of getting another man to sexually assault a woman.

Deputy Chief Joel Jones, 53, has been placed on leave after his arrest for aggravated sexual assault. aggravated kidnapping and sexual abuse. 

He allegedly solicited another man to carry out the sexual assault, Fox4 reported.

The day after Jones was apprehended, Fort Worth Police arrested Tobasia Griffiths, 30, for aggravated sexual assault.

The victim, who did not know the person who attacked her, managed to get a partial tag number of the vehicle involved.

A neighbor of Jones showed reporters doorbell footage of Jones and an unidentified woman telling her about the attack in his home and warning her to be careful.

Police confiscated computers and other electronics from Jones' home as part of the investigation.

Griffiths was released on bail while the deputy chief was being held on $300,000 bail.

In a statement, the Everman fire chief said he placed Jones on administrative leave while the investigation continues. He said he understands the gravity of the allegations.
