Ohio Firefighter Dies after Collapse

The Sharon Township Fire Department in Medina County, Ohio is mourning the loss of firefighter Jeffery M. Murray.

The Sharon Township Fire Department in Medina County, Ohio is mourning the loss of firefighter Jeffery M. Murray.

Murray, 40, died Feb. 13 after responding to a call during extremely adverse weather conditions. Upon returning home, he collapsed and was unresponsive.

Murray was transported to a local hospital but was unable to be revived.

Murray had been with the Sharon Township Fire department since September 2006. He is survived by his wife and two children.

"Jeff had without a doubt the most positive attitude that you could have," said Chief Robert Haas. "Jeff brought that to work every day. He truly had an impact."

Visitation will be Feb. 17 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home in Norwalk, Ohio. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Sunday for a funeral at the First United Methodist Church of Norwalk.

Apparatus line up will begin at 11:00 a.m. and start in front of the funeral home.
