A Texas firefighter died late Tuesday during a training exercise
El Paso Fire Suppression Technician Eduardo Ramirez collapsed after performing physical training at his station, the department stated in an online post. Spokesman Enrique Aguilar told the El Paso Times that Ramirez had been with the department for 19 years.
"FST Ramirez was a beloved husband and father who proudly served the citizens of El Paso for 19 years," Fire Chief Mario D'Agostino said in a statement, according to the Times."This is a tragic unexpected loss for his family and the Department. He will be greatly missed.
"Please keep FST Ramirez’ family in your hearts and minds and join the El Paso Fire Department in honoring his service and dedication to his community."
Ramirez's cause of death is not know, and how he died is under investigation, Aguilar told the Times.
