COVID-19 Claims Veteran Dallas Firefighter

A veteran Dallas firefighter's long battle against COVID-19 has ended with his passing in a local hospital's intensive care unit.

Dallas Fire-Rescue announced in a release that driver/engineer David Leos died Thursday after "a long and courageous battle with COVID-19."

According to the release, Leos served the city for 40 years since joining the department in August 1981. His service in Dallas was part of a family affair, which includes his brother, Lt. Marty Leos, and his son, Lt. David Leos, Jr.

"We ask that you keep David’s family, and the department, in your thoughts and prayers and we lean on one another for support during this most challenging time," the release says.

Leos leaves behind a wife and his seven other children.
