Two Mineral Point firefighters were killed when the apparatus they were responding in was struck by an 18-wheeler early Thursday.
The firefighters were responding to a crash on U.S. Highway 151, near mile marker 38, when they attempted to turn around in an emergency crossover just after midnight. They fire truck was struck by the semi that was driving northbound, according to the Iowa County Sherriff's office.
The Mineral Point apparatus caught fire following the collision and both vehicle sustained heavy damage.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
