Veteran Louisburg, NC, Fire Captain Answers Final Alarm

Capt. Ray Patterson, 74, who was involved in the fire service for 50 years, was found unresponsive at his home.

A veteran Louisburg fire captain answered his final alarms on Sept. 12.

Capt. Ray Patterson, 74, responded to two calls, a vehicle collision and a fire alarm activitation.

Patterson was found unresponsive at his home, according to the U.S. Fire Adminitration. 

He served the fire service for 50 years. 

To date, 41 firefighters across the country have died on duty.
