New Orleans Fire Captain Found Dead at Headquarters

Capt. Michael Windsay had celebrated his 30th year with the New Orleans Fire Department last month.

New Orleans firefighters are mourning the loss of another veteran leader.

Capt. Michael Windsay died Monday while on duty at headquarters.

Windsay, the acting 5th District Chief, celebrated his 30th anniversary with the department last month, NOLA reported. 

The cause of his death is pending.

His death comes about a week after Capt. John Blackwell, died seven days after he was diagnosed with colon cancer. 

"This last week has been a very difficult and trying time for our department as we mourn the passing two veteran leaders within our ranks," Capt. Edwin Holmes said in a statement.
