Man Indicted for Murder for Fire that Killed Binghamton, NY, Firefighter

Binghamton Firefighter John Gaudet, 40, was hit by debris when a wall collapsed at a fire last month.

A month after a Binghamton firefighter was killed at a structure fire, a man has been indicted by a grand jury for starting the fire.

Firefighter John Gaudet, 40, died of injuries when a wall collapsed at a fire on Feb. 12 and hit him with debris.

Binghamton Police arrested Patrick K. Shea, 36, on Friday, according to cyncentral. 

That fire killed John Gaudet, 40, who was an 11-year-veteran of the Binghamton Fire Department. He died at Wilson Hospital after a wall collapsed and he became trapped in debris.

Officials determined the fire in the vacant building was deliberately set.
