We pause today to remember two tragic days that took the lives of six of our bravest way too soon.
Today marks the 20th anniversary of one of the darkest days in FDNY history. Three veteran firefighters died at two separate fires on Jan. 23, 2005, a day that has become known as “Black Sunday.”
Tomorrow is the third anniversary of the tragic Baltimore Row House Fire. Three Baltimore City Fire Department members were killed when the building collapsed.
Details on these stories and other January fires can be found in this month’s version of This Month in Fire History. Also, check out our special Black Sunday podcast with FDNY firefighter Jeff Cool.
Stay safe!
