PATERSON, NJ, JULY 9, 2014 – In the mid-afternoon, Paterson dispatch received multiple calls for a structure fire. Less than a minute after dispatch, Battalion 3 advised that smoke could be seen from quarters. Units arrived to find heavy fire showing from the third floor of a three-story mixed occupancy. Firefighters quickly stretched lines and attempted to make an interior attack. Minutes after firefighters made entry, command called for the evacuation of the building and struck a second alarm. Two ladder pipes, a deck gun and multiple handlines were set up to hit the flames and to protect the exposure on the D side of the fire building.
