HOUSTON, TX, JULY 24, 2014 – Southwest Houston fire crews had a busy early morning with four working structure fires in less than four hours in the quadrant after midnight following an intense lightning storm. The fire in this single-story residence was the last of the four, destroying most of the home. Investigators were called to determine the fire’s specific cause; it was only a few blocks from where another house burned two hours earlier.

DETROIT, MI, JULY 9, 2014 – 7th Battalion companies were dispatched to a reported commercial building fire. Squad 4 reported heavy smoke showing. Ladder 8 arrived and reported a working fire in two commercial buildings. Chief 7 arrived and requested a second alarm. Ladders 7 and 8 set up their elevating platforms for exterior operations. The fire was brought under control in about two hours with a total collapse of the structure. Engines 27, 33, 34, 39 and 1, Ladders 8 and 7, Squads 4 and 3, Chiefs 7 and 5 and Car 203 responded to the incident.

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, JULY 13, 2014 – An early-morning fire in a one-story abandoned home spread to an adjacent house. A second alarm was called for additional manpower. Twenty firefighters operated six pieces of apparatus.

PATERSON, NJ, JULY 9, 2014 – In the mid-afternoon, Paterson dispatch received multiple calls for a structure fire. Less than a minute after dispatch, Battalion 3 advised that smoke could be seen from quarters. Units arrived to find heavy fire showing from the third floor of a three-story mixed occupancy. Firefighters quickly stretched lines and attempted to make an interior attack. Minutes after firefighters made entry, command called for the evacuation of the building and struck a second alarm. Two ladder pipes, a deck gun and multiple handlines were set up to hit the flames and to protect the exposure on the D side of the fire building. Firefighters battled the fire in temperatures near 90 degrees.
