Officials say the fire spread through the walls and to the roof of the three-story Easton home.

Flames shot from the roof of an Easton home as crews tried to contain a Dec. 11 fire.

Northampton County 911 received a call for a dwelling fire at 178 Charles St. in the City of Easton and first arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the roof of three-story, 110-year-old stone home. Within minutes, fire was reaching 20 feet above the roof line.

Officials believe the fire started in a faulty chimney and the fire spread through the walls.

It took 30 firefighters approximately 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The fire caused extensive damage to the third floor and roof.
