Four people who served in the command and training structure of EMS operations in a Florida county have been arrested for falsifying records.
NorthEscambia.com is reporting that all four individuals are facing jail time following a lengthy investigation of the Escambia County Department of Public Safety by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The probe was launched after Escambia County's medical director raised concerns in a letter.
Those who were arrested and are facing jail time are former EMS Operations Chief Stephen White, Paramedic Supervisor Katherine Kenny, former Deputy Chief of EMS Operations Lawrence Salter Jr., and James Bonoyer, a former captain in charge of training, quality assurance, and the American Heart Association training center coordinator for the county.
“The investigation is complete unless we receive additional information,” State Attorney Bill Eddins told NorthEscambia.com. “I would like the public to know that my office will not tolerate this kind of conduct.”
The various charges range from official misconduct to license fraud and racketeering. The records alleged to have been falsified involve mandatory training courses with the American Heart Association which are required to obtain a paramedic license in Florida.
