MD Firefighter Injured at Training Drill
A Baltimore County probationary firefighter was injured Tuesday during a ladder exercise at the training facility at Sparrows Point.
The 30-year-old woman was taking advantage of extra training when the incident occurred, fire officials said in a press release.
The incident occurred around noon during a rooftop ventilation drill. The exercise requires firefighters to climb a ladder to the roof and place another in its proper position.
She lost her footing while descending the ladder and fell about 15 feet to the ground, officers said.
She was taken to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
She was wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE) and was supervised by two instructors.
