A Paterson battalion chief was injured in a partial building collapse early Friday.

The three-alarm fire occurred in a building that housed a marijuana dispensary on the first floor and apartments on the second.

The chief, who suffered a headand shoulder injury, was transported to a hospital for treatment, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh told northjersey.com.

The mayor lauded a man who helped people escape. Without his efforts, he said the fire would have been much worse.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
