Multi-Alarm Fire Destroys Vacant Church in Philadelphia

Philadelphia firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

A massive fire destroyed a vacant church in the Kensington area of Philadelphia Friday morning.

More than 100 firefighters battled the multi-alarm fire and managed to keep it from spreading to nearby houses, WPVI reported.

Residents near the church were evacuated due to the collapse. Firefighters worked for more than two hours to control the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
