Vacant Factory Fire in Adams, MA, under Investigation

April 17, 2025
Adams Fire Chief John Pansecchi said getting inside was difficult as part of the building had collapsed.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire at an abandoned factory.

A hazmat team monitored the air as firefighters battled the fire at the former MacDermid Graphic Arts factory.

Residents with respiratory issues were encouraged to stay indoors, according to WNYT.

“This was an old mill. This at one time had some really nasty chemicals in it. So you don’t know what’s still lingering in there on the floors and the walls so there were some concerns about that,” Adams Fire Chief John Pansecchi told WWLP.

As the building had already collapsed, the chief said getting inside was a challenge.
