HEMET, June 4, 2006 - About 100 firefighters today battled a blaze which has scorched more than 360 acres of land just west of Hemet.
The fire, which started near State Route 74 and Cortrite Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, continued to burn overnight. More than 200 firefighters and seven aircraft worked through the night to battle the blaze, said Capt. Lori Windsor of the Riverside County Fire Department.
Firefighters contained the blaze around midnight and hoped to have it completely controlled by 6 p.m., Windsor said.
"We have about 100 firefighters and seven engines out there for day assignment," she said. "We're in a high state of readiness and have as many resources as possible."
No structures were reported damaged and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
