Ceiling Collapse at 2-Alarm Blaze Injures Chicago Firefighter

A Chicago firefighter was injured during a two-alarm blaze late Sunday, the first of two multi-alarm strip mall fires that broke out overnight and into Monday morning around the city.
Crews responded to a fire at a strip of stores along 47th Street in the Bronzeville area, the Chicago Fire Department said in an online update.The ceiling of one of the businesses collapsed during the blaze and injured a firefighter
The firefighter was taken to the hospital and was in fair condition, the Chicago Tribune reports. The fire eventually was put out at around 9 p.m.
Another call concerning a two-alarm fire at a strip mall came in at about 7 a.m. This blaze broke out at a Dollar Tree store in a shopping center in the city's Jeffery Manor neighborhood.
No injuries have been reported at this incident.
Since Saturday, Chicago has been under a 9 p.m.curfew after demonstrations to protest police brutality and racism following the death of George Floyd turned violent. Firefighters have been handling multiple commercial fires overnight around the city, according to the Tribune.
