Application Period Open for National Fire Academy

April 15, 2021
Find out how to apply to the U.S. Fire Administration's National Fire Academy for courses starting in October after the previous application period was suspended.

The U.S. Fire Administration has opened the application period for the National Fire Academy after the previous application period last year was suspended.

The academy's current application period begins April 15, and it runs through June 15. Courses for this application begin in October.

The application period originally scheduled last fall was suspended because of the volume of applicants from 2020's summer application period and the need to place students from COVID-related course suspensions into future offerings, according to the USFA.

The National Fire Academy works to improve the ability of firefighters, EMS workers and other first responders to more effectively respond to fires and other emergency calls. Free training courses and programs are conducted at the academy's campus in Emmitsburg, MD, online and locations around the country.

Go to the U.S. Fire Academy's website to apply to the academy. Applicants who applied during last year's application period should also go to the academy's page on the USFA's website for more information.
