Rochester firefighters rescued four people from an early afternoon house fire Thursday.

Dispatchers received multiple calls for a house on fire on Clifford Avenue and North Street in the city's Upper Falls neighborhood around 1 p.m.

Truck 6 arrived to find fire showing from the rear 2 1/2-story home and reported people hanging from a second floor window, according to IAFF Local 1071's Twitter account.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue two adults and one child from the structure. Other crews rescued a third adult using the interior stairwell,  according to WHEC.

Lt. Jeff Simpson told the television station that smoke alarms were found in the home, but they were not operating.

One person was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation.
