Car Fire Sparks MD Townhouse Blaze

Frederick County firefighters were evacuated from the Urbana townhouse after the first floor was deemed unsafe.

Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue units responded to a call for a reported townhouse fire in the 9600 Block of Ethan Ridge Drive in Urbana.

According to a Facebook post from the department, crews arrived find fire from three floors on the rear of a townhome extending into the townhomes on each side of the fire building.

Crews began working immediately to extinguish the structure and vehicle fires and stop the fire from spreading into the adjoining units.

It took nearly 100 firefighters from Frederick, Montgomery and Carroll Counties approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the fire and an additional 30 minutes to ventilate and perform overhaul.

There were no injuries. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation
