An Indiana firefighter was seriously injured battling a structure fire over the weekend.
The fire broke out at a vacant two-story building at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, WISH-TV reports. Heavy flames came from the courtyard area, and crews from multiple departments responded to the call.
A Decatur Township firefighter was injured when a hoseline unexpectedly jerked, throwing him through the air, according to WISH. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but he was released and recovering at home, the department stated in an online update.
The fire was under control by about 12:30 a.m. It's the ninth time firefighters have been called to a fire at that structure since January 2020, according to WISH.
