Man Wedged Between Walls Rescued by Greeley, CO, Technicians

April 22, 2025
Greeley crews used a rope and pulley system to free the man trapped for nearly 20 hours.

Greeley technical rescue crews came up with two plans when they encountered a man wedged between a church wall and a dumpster enclosure.

He was trapped about seven feet down for nearly 20 hours before a passerby heard his calls for help, Greeley Lt. Matt Hawkins explained to 9 News.

Among the plans considered included removing part of the structure. But, time was of the essence as the man was slouched over.

But, they went with another one. They put their confined space skills and tools to use. About a dozen firefighters lifted the victim vertically.

“These are the two loops that we would loop around to put up by his chest. Used this to pull him up vertically  through a pulley system."

The man was transported to a hospital for treatment.
