Arizona firefighters have assisted in the search for a man who fell in a sinkhole in the Mexico city of Hermosillo earlier this week.

Advisers from the Phoenix Fire Department were flown to Mexico on Friday to help local authorities, according to ABC 15 in Arizona.

The unidentified man has been missing since Monday, according to the TV station. He fell into the sinkhole and was “swept underground” into a storm drain, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The department said in a Facebook post early Saturday that an advisory team has returned safely from Hermosillo. They were accompanied by Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski and Councilwoman Betty Guardado.

"The team was able to assist and lend their technical expertise to the responders in Hermosillo in a complex rescue operation of a missing adult male," read the post.

The Phoenix PD said that is was able to “ensure operations were conducted effectively and safely.”

There are several different drainage pipes where the man could have gone through, according to ABC 15.

Phoenix is a sister city to Hermosillo.
