Michigan firefighters rescued a mechanic who became trapped between two tractor-trailer wheels while making repairs on the vehicle Thursday night.
The incident happened in Plymouth Township, and Livonia firefighters were called in to help authorities with the rescue, according to the union for Livonia's fire department. A winch and airbags were used to stabilize the tractor-trailer, and firefighters manually removed the outside tire from the front axle. The interior tire was then cut away, and the individual was pulled out.
"Fortunately, the victim only sustained minor injuries," Livonia's firefighters union stated on its Facebook page.
Livonia Deputy Chief Michael Kelly told the Detroit Free Press that the mechanic had been working on the tractor-trailer's refrigeration unit, and he became trapped when someone else tried moving the truck. It took firefighters around 40 minutes to extricate the man, 35.
