FFs Help MA Woman who Fled Car Before Train Collision

Firefighters who were battling a blaze in Abington noticed a car disabled on nearby tracks and helped a woman who had escaped her vehicle before a train collided with it.

A woman in Abington managed to flee from her disabled car as a train approached Sunday morning, escaping moments prior to a collision, authorities said.

The woman was aided when firefighter, who were battling a blaze close by, responded to the scene.

Firefighters responded to a call just after midnight Sunday morning of a report of a fire at 10 Railroad St. in Abington, authorities said. While on scene, residents notified firefighters that a car was disabled on train tracks nearby.

Firefighters saw a train approaching and rushed toward the car on foot, where the woman had escaped the vehicle, authorities said.

No one was injured after the train slammed into the car, the Abington Fire Department said.
