Pickup Nearly Slams into EMS Workers at PA Crash Scene

Dec. 17, 2020
A Collier Township EMS vehicle's dashboard camera captured the scary moment as two crew members scrambled out of the way of a pickup truck that had lost control and struck an emergency vehicle.

Two Pennsylvania EMS workers working at a crash scene were nearly struck when a truck lost control in hazardous road conditions caused by a winter storm Wednesday.

Collier Township EMS was responding to a minor accident on the side of the road, and two crew members were checking to see if the vehicle's occupant was injured, the department stated in an online update. That's when a pickup truck took a bend in the road too quickly and slammed into the EMS vehicle.

Footage from the EMS vehicle's dashboard camera captured the harrowing moment as both EMS workers and the occupant from the previous crash were able to scramble out of the way of the truck. In the video, the truck is seen hitting the EMS vehicle head-on

"This is a reminder to please SLOW DOWN and use CAUTION not only in this weather, but ALL the time," the EMS department wrote in an update posted with the video. "Two of our members were almost struck during this incident, please be careful."

It's not clear if anyone in the pickup truck was injured in the incident. The winter storm that hit Pennsylvania and much of the East Coast with snow and ice created slick road conditions, making it potentially hazardous for drivers to navigate.
