Photos: FL Crash Requires Unique Stabilization and Extrication
Firefighters in Lakeland encountered a unique extrication and stabilization scenario when a three-car crash left one vehicle resting on it's front grille.
The accident happened Thursday morning around 7:30 at Lakeland Hills Boulevard and East Bella Vista Street, bringing Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue resources.
"Crews found a vehicle upside down on top of another vehicle with the driver entrapped in the upside-down vehicle," the Lakeland Fire Department Spokesman Matt Brown said in a statement. "Fire crews quickly stabilized the upside-down vehicle and removed both front driver and passenger doors to make access to the driver."
The driver was alert during the 20 minute extrication, which included the use of struts to keep the vehicle stabilized.
An ambulance transported the driver and the others were released at the scene.
