Chico, CA — In response to the requirements put forth by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #226 (FMVSS 226), Rescue 42 has launched a critically needed rescue tool for cutting and removing laminated side windows in vehicles: The Ripper™.
Federal law now requires most newly manufactured vehicles to install laminated glass in side and rear windows as a means of minimizing occupant ejection during a rollover. This new requirement, however, has created a serious problem for Law Enforcement, Firefighters and Medics. Unlike tempered glass (which for years has been the industry standard for vehicle side windows), laminated glass cannot be broken using window punches or other glass-breaking tools. Rescuers are now faced with the inability to quickly access vehicle occupants trapped behind their vehicle’s laminated windows. The Ripper™ quickly and easily solves this problem.
In Spring 2019, Rescue 42 released The Ripper™ Laminated Side Window Cutter as a solution for all First Responders. The Ripper™ will punch, cut and remove laminated side windows in less than ten seconds to allow First Responder entry. Additionally, The Ripper™ will cut and remove windshields in the event of a roof removal or to access a patient in a side-resting vehicle. Small, lightweight and easy-to-use, The Ripper™ is the perfect tool for First Responders to deal with the life-threatening new environment of laminated side windows.
Rescue 42 is the industry leader in innovative vehicle rescue equipment as well as critical communications systems for Emergency Responders.
