Three firefighters and two other people were taken to the hospital for injuries they suffered while fighting a fire at an apartment building in Milwaukee.
According to a news report in Milwaukee's paper, the Journal Sentinel, the injuries to the firefighters were not serious and they were released from the hospital on Wednesday morning.
The Associated Press reported the firefighters went into the eight-unit building Tuesday night following reports of people trapped on the second floor, but found no one.
Battalion Chief Brian Smith says the firefighters became trapped by fire and had to jump from a second-story window. Smith says they suffered burns and lacerations.
Officials say the apartment building is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the department's Fire Investigation Unit.
