Two Tampa firefighters were hurt battling a 2-alarm strip mall fire Saturday morning.
According to local television station Fox 13, the fire appeared to have started in a nail salon business at the eastern end of the strip mall. The two firefighters were hospitalized, but one of them returned to the scene, according to the television station. It took more than three hours to get the fire under control, Fox 13 reported.
Fire officials said flammable liquids and combustible chemicals inside the salon and in an adjacent storage area presented firefighters with challenges, the station reported.
The fire forced two other businesses to be evacuated. The owner of a Jamaican restaurant was working on Christmas catering orders when he smelled smoke and left the building. No injuries were reported, the station reported.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
