A South Carolina firefighter was hurt when he was hit by a vehicle while working a fatal accident involving two bicycles and an SUV early New Year's Day.
The initial crash happened at about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, the Myrtle Beach Sun New reports. One of the bicyclists was killed in that accident; the other was injured and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
While crews were working the scene, another vehicle hit a fire engine and a firefighter, Horry County Fire Rescue told the Sun News. The firefighter was taken to a local hospital for treatment and released with non-life-threatening injuries, the department said in a social media post.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating both accidents.
