Seattle Firefighter Dies Suddenly Before Shift

Seattle Firefighter/EMT Matt Runte died suddenly before the start of his shift Wednesday.

The Seattle Fire Department is grieving the passing of active Seattle firefighter/EMT, Matt Runte, who died suddenly before coming onto shift Wednesday.

The Seattle Fire Department in a tweet said, “We are heartbroken by this tragedy and are all grieving the loss of our friend and colleague, Matt Runte.”

Firefighter Runte was awarded Seattle Firefighter of the Year in 2015 (see video below) for his commitment to the department and community he served.
