IA Man Arrested in Crash with Fire Truck

A Walcott man has been arrested after a collision with a Durant fire truck that injured multiple firefighters.

A collision between an agricultural field sprayer and a Durant fire truck has left multiple Durant firefighters injured and the operator of the farming vehicle arrested.

The Durant fire truck had been responding to a call when it was struck by the farming implement which left the scene after striking the fire truck, according to OurQuadCities.com.

Officials located the farming implement in Walcott and identified the driver as Kent Reimers of Walcott who has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense) and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident.

According to a Facebook post by the Wilton Fire Department, firefighter Matt Fisher was taken by ambulance to Genesis Medical Center in Davenport and later airlifted to the University of Iowa where he underwent major surgery, with more surgeries pending.

The other crew members in the truck were treated and returned home with relatively minor injuries.
