Off-Duty OR Firefighter, Twin Brother Killed in Plane Crash
A plane crash in Idaho has claimed the life of an Oregon firefighter and his twin brother.
Bend Fire & Rescue Engineer Daniel Harro was flying home with his brother, Mark, after a camping trip when the plane crashed, according to a statement posted on the department's Facebook page.
“This is a devastating loss for our family. Daniel was well-loved and well-respected by everyone who worked with him. We will miss his presence every day,” Bend Fire Chief Todd Riley added.
Harro, an avid aviation enthusiast, was piloting the plane. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
He previously worked for the Scappoose Fire Department but has been with Bend Fire in 2014 as a firefighter and paramedic. He was involved with the Bend Fire & Rescue specialty rescue team and served on the Bend Professional Local 227 executive board.
