Engaged GA Firefighters Ejected, Seriously Hurt in Engine Crash
Two engaged firefighters were seriously injured after they were ejected from their fire engine Saturday.
Logan Gordy and Trista Cheeks were responding to a wreck in an engine from Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Department when the rig overturned, WSB reported.
Both were flown to Grady Memorial Hosptial for life-threatening injuries.
Gordy, a full-time jail officer at the Upson County Sheriff’s Office, has an inoperable brain bleed and swelling on his brain, according to a Facebook post from Taylor County Volunteer Fire Department.
Cheeks, who also suffered a brain injury, underwent surgery Saturday night. She also remains in the intensive care unit.
The two were planning an October wedding.
