Coon Creek Firefighter Regina Huffman, 39, was pinned under the emergency vehicle after it ran off the road and hit houses.

The Coon Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Firefighter Regina Huffman was killed Saturday night when the emergency vehicle in which she was riding crashed.

While the firefighters were following an ambulance to the landing zone, officials said the driver, Austin Turner, lost control of the vehicle after hitting gravel in the road. It veered into a ditch and continued through two buildings and into the side of a trailer, WYMT reported.

Huffman was trapped under the vehicle after the crash. She was transported to Mary Breckinridge Hospital where she died.

Turner and Firefighter Ben Barton also were transported to the hospital for injuries after the 10 p.m. wreck.

Media outlets reported one of the two injured was her oldest son.
