Responder Safety Learning Network Launches New Design
The Responder Safety Learning Network (RSLN) is debuting a brand new graphic look, navigation, and features in a responsive design that enables the network to be displayed optimally on all devices, including smartphones. All of the content on RSLN will remain, but the new look and navigation upgrade will make the network easier to use, clearer to understand, and an even better tool for your roadway incident response safety training.
A number of factors have driven this upgrade, which has been in development for more than a year. First, our statistics show that more and more users are using mobile devices to access RSLN, and it became clear that the network needed a responsive design that would automatically resize for optimal display no matter the device, screen size, or orientation. The new responsive design will enable you to seamlessly take RSLN modules from your phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.
Second, technologies for content delivery over the web continue to change. The RSLN development team keeps pace with this and the upcoming update is no exception. The network upgrade introduces a new video player with optimized streaming based on the accessing device, as well as improved resource management.
Third, RSLN's list of available programs continues to grow as we add new training modules multiple times a year. Users indicated a desire for better ways to sort and target this content to their needs. The new upgrade will introduce a filtering capacity for module listings by topic and by agency. So, now you will be able to see the modules most relevant to your work or your interests.
Finally, it was just time. As RSLN grew over the more than a decade it has been available and trusted as a training resource for emergency responders, the old structure became less useful for what responders need today to work safely on the roadway. The new navigation puts critical training and resources up front, as well as makes special features like secondary reporting more accessible.
The team at the Responder Safety Learning Network is looking forward to your feedback on the new, responsive design.
