NFPA Board of Directors Appoints New Member to NFPA Standards Council

Tracey Bellamy of Telgian Corporation was appointed by the Board in November 2023. He began serving a three-year term on January 1, 2024.

February ­­21, 2024 – The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) Board of Directors has appointed a new member to the NFPA Standards Council. Tracey Bellamy of Telgian Corporation was appointed by the Board in November 2023. He began serving a three-year term on January 1, 2024.

Tracey Bellamy is an active member of several NFPA standards committees as well as the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. As the current chief engineering officer for Telgian Corporation, Bellamy oversees the technical aspects of all engineering activities and establishes standards of performance for the fire protection engineering program. Prior to joining Telgian, Bellamy was a senior fire protection engineer for Westinghouse Savannah River Company, has served as staff manager for the South Carolina Division of the State Fire Marshal, and has experience performing comparative fire risk analyses for the Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport. He also performs fire protection and life safety consulting services and is a seasoned instructor/speaker on a wide range of fire protection related topics. Bellamy earned both a bachelor of science and master of engineering in civil engineering from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, and an advanced graduate certificate in fire protection engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). 

In addition, several current council members were reappointed to serve additional terms. Richard Gallagher and Catherine Stashak were each reappointed for a second three-year term, and Michael Johnston, Jack Poole, and Rodger Reiswig were each reappointed for a one-year extension. All terms began on January 1, 2024.

The NFPA Standards Council, appointed by the NFPA Board of Directors, is comprised of 13 members. The responsibilities of the Council include overseeing NFPA standards development activities, ensuring compliance with the NFPA Regulations and Rules, and serving as the appeals body over matters related to standards development.
