Snow Collapses WI Fire Station's Roof

Firefighters at the White Lake Volunteer Fire Department were at a conference in La Crosse when the accident happened Sunday morning.

Snow caused the roof to collapse at a Wisconsin fire station over the weekend. No one was hurt in the accident, which destroyed the building.

The collapse happened at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning at the White Lake Volunteer Fire Department while firefighters were at a conference in La Crosse, the department said in an online statement. Volunteers from surrounding departmentsincluding Antigo, Langlade, Doty and other communities—helped out Sunday afternoon, and they were assisted by the Red Cross and local churches and businesses.

"It was kind of shocking at first, you think it's never going to happen to your department, but it does," Assistant Chief Allan Holbrook told WSAW-TV. "We are going to have to tear down the building."

Although the station needs to be rebuilt, the department's pieces of apparatus weren't damaged. That equipment has been moved to a new location, according to WSAW.
