Action Training Systems
Action Training Systems’ 12-title training series, “Fire Operation Support,” presents information and job performance requirements for the “support person” that are based on NFPA 1010: Standard on Professional Qualifications for Firefighters. Information and demonstrations include communication, SCBA inspection and maintenance, fire extinguisher use, hose and hydrant operations, equipment maintenance, PPE use, cleaning and inspection, and apparatus safety. Departments that incorporate this role into their operations and use this training series might find recruitment and retention easier by encouraging a wider range of community members to participate. Targeted training on specific skills minimizes over-training and expands roles to accommodate varying skill sets and physical capabilities.
