May 28, 2020
Authorities are looking for individuals who stole firefighting gear and other items from one of the stations in the west end of Pierce County Fire District 23 in Ashford.

Pierce County Fire District 23 and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department are seeking help identifying the people who broke into a fire station over Memorial Day weekend.

A security camera shows the people stealing several items, including firefighting equipment, from one of the stations in the west half of the district on Monday, Fire Chief Matt Medford said. The district is headquartered in Ashford.

The theft is not only a loss to taxpayers but can put firefighters in danger, according to a news release.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the sheriff’s department’s non-emergency number, 253-798-4721 or toll free at 800-562-9800. Information also can be given anonymously at http://tpcrimestoppers.com.
