Firefighters at a Michigan fire department have been staying in apparatus after they were forced out of their station because of mold from flooding.
Crews from Dearborn Fire Station #5 had been sent to other firehouses following flooding Jan. 9 and were going to return until cleanup crews discovered mold throughout the station Wednesday, WXYZ-TV reports. But instead of being sent to temporary stations again, Jeffery Lentz, president of Dearborn's fire union, told the TV station that the firefighters were told to take their apparatus to the Melvindale Civc Arena.
City officials are awaiting test results concerning the mold, and if more work is needed for the station, the firefighters will be able to sleep inside the Melvindale Recreation Center, WXYZ added.
